    "Mean Streets" follows a guilt-ridden small-time ringleader Charlie (Harvey Keitel) as he deals with the debts owed by his dangerously volatile best pal, Johnny Boy (Robert De Niro), and pressure from his headstrong girlfriend, Teresa (Amy Robinson). As their intertwined lives spiral out of control, Director Scorsese creates an electrifying vision of sin and redemption. (Gary Reber)

    Special features include include an interview with Martin Scorsese (HD 29:40); selected scene commentary; four featurettes: "A Body Among Other Bodies" (HD 29:00), "Kent Wageford" (HD 19:04), "Mardik Martin" (HD 09:20) and "Martin Scorsese: Back On The Block" (HD 06:56) and trailer.

    The 1.85:1 2160p HEVC/H.265 4K Ultra HD Dolby Vision/HDR10 picture, reviewed on a VIZIO Quantum X P85QX-JI UHD/HDR display, was photographed on film using the Panavision R 200 camera and sourced from a 4K Digital Intermediate director-approved digital restoration. This is a low budget production with generally poor production design. Film grain is evident throughout, which softens the picture. The color palette exhibits saturated hues but largely appear unnatural due to garish lighting in interior scenes. HDR contrast is mediocre though black levels are decent. White levels appear generally realistic. Resolution is generally soft. Overall, this is an undistinguished picture, even though credited as a 4K restoration with Dolby Vision processing.
